Use gene editing in pluripotent stem cells to treat human diseases

Jiing-Kuan Yee 介绍

Jiing-Kuan Yee got his PHD in University of Texas at Dallas in 1983. From 1983 to 1987, he acted as post-doctoral fellow at University of California, San Diego. Now, he  focus their research on the differentiation of hPSCs into β cells for cell replacement therapy to treat type 1 diabetes at City of Hope. The goal of their research program is to evaluate the feasibility and strategy of using human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) to treat human diseases.  They have extensive research experience in molecular biology, virology and stem cell biology and have published multiple peer reviewed articles in these fields.

Contributions to Science

1.  Identification of a liver-specific enhancer (enhancer 2) in the genome of hepatitis B virus (HBV).

2.Generation of VSV-G pseudotyped retroviral vectors.

3. Manipulation of human pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) for disease modeling and cell-based therapy.
